Call For Action/Resources
Our understanding of global warming, the corresponding effects of sea-level rise, and its relation to human-induced climate change continues to grow. There are many organizations working on these issues and we hope to meet more; here is a list of resources we recommend:
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change, publishing comprehensive Assessment Reports about the state of scientific, technical and socio-economic knowledge on climate change, its impacts and future risks, and options for reducing the rate at which climate change is taking place. The IPCC is currently in its seventh assessment cycle, since 2023.
On behalf of Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change (PISFCC) the International Court of Justice has ruled and the United Nations General Assembly reinforced that urgent, equitable, and ambitious climate action is not optional; it is a legal obligation.
Durwood Zaelke and the Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development (IGSD) contend that the fastest and most effective climate strategy is to combine the marathon to reduce carbon dioxide emissions with the sprint to rapidly cut non-CO2 super pollutants.
